Grandmommy's Birthday!

I say "Grandmommy" but actually we haven't quite figured out what your name is going to be for my mom yet. For now, I will call her Grandmommy. So, Grandmommy's 62nd birthday was this weekend and all she wanted to do was to come see you. It has been about 3 weeks so you have really changed and grown so much since the last time she and Poppy were here. Unfortunately, mommy got the stomach virus but that didn't seem to slow down your fun. You were so happy and good all weekend! Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Happy Birthday Grandmommy!

Finding the Right Schedule...

I have been trying to figure out the right schedule for you little one. You were doing so great for about a month, sleeping from 9 pm until 7 am every day! About a week ago things changed and you started waking up at 3 and 4 am, bright eyed and ready to start the day. I called my friends with kids, I called the doctor, I changed your schedule 3 or 4 times, I cried, I have basically tried almost everything to get you back on track with no successful outcome. I have unfortunately finally started to accept this 3 am intruder as a new normal. Hopefully, you will get back to where you were at some point. Until then, I hope I don't turn you into a super fat baby because I am feeding you too much! Your daddy thinks I am crazy for thinking this way!

Another new development is that you have started turning over all the time! You are turning from your front to your back probably 20 times per day. You are so funny because you will turn over and then you will get frustrated because you can't get back over again. I will turn you over myself to relieve your frustration, but you will start the process right over again! It's like you are determined to master the art of getting back over yourself! This is what happens at 3 and 4 in the morning when I hear you crying. You are on your stomach in your crib saying "Help me I'm stuck!" It is so fun to see your little personality forming. I have a feeling you are going to be a very headstrong and determined little girl, which is nothing like your mommy. I guess you get this from your daddy.

Hopefully by the next post you will be sleeping again!

Kate's First Photo Shoot!

Last week my friend Zach Goodyear came over to take some pictures of you. You were so good! I made sure you got a good nap in that morning and you had a full tummy. You were all smiles for us!! It is so fun to see you so alert these days and taking in the world around you. Zach was really good about getting you to smile while he made funny faces and funny noises. I am so glad to have this period of time documented in such a fun way!

First Week Back to Work

Last week was my first week back to work and away from you. I was a little anxious about it but when the time came I felt okay. I knew I would miss you terribly while I was away but I do love my job and I love the people I work with and I missed being in that environment. Someone told me once that they thought working actually made them feel like a better mom because they had the chance to actually miss their children. Who knows how it will all turn out since it was just my first week, but I do feel that it was manageable. Especially since I am only working part time. I am so lucky to be able to be with you on Thursdays and Fridays. I am also so blessed to have such a fantastic nanny taking care of you! Apparently, you cried the whole day on Monday but you were much more pleasant on Tuesday and Wednesday. Jen (the nanny) made me my first mother's day gift with your sweet footprints. I couldn't have asked for anything more special!! Jen told me she loves doing arts and crafts projects so I can hardly wait to see what is next. Wish me luck with week 2!!

Oh and Happy Mother's Day to me today!!
Love, Mommy

3 Months Old!

Well the day has come and you are finally 3 months old! I feel like this is a monumental age for some reason. Everyone says that you will start getting really fun at this age so I have been looking forward to it. (You have always been fun though!) You are definitely starting to smile more, and interact well with us. I have also sort of been dreading this age because this means I will have to go back to work next week. I can't believe these 3 months have passed so quickly. I will miss you terribly while I am at work but I know you are in good hands with Jen your new nanny! Mommy loves you!!

Here are some of your accomplishments:
  • You rolled over on Sunday! We even got it on film which made Daddy very happy. You went from your tummy to your back which was so great!
  • You are starting to hold your head up better and can almost get it to a 90 degree angle when you are on your tummy.
  • You are obsessed with your hands! You love to hold them together and you are starting to hold on to rattles and things that make noise. You especially love to hold on to your paci.
  • You are growing like a weed! Daddy weighed you the other day and we think you might be close to 12 pounds!
  • You still keep trying to hold your bottle
  • You love being in your little jungle and hitting the little animals hanging down.

Mommy's Birthday

We had been so busy traveling and around all of your wonderful grandparents that we hadn't had much Kate and mommy time. Everyone kept asking me what I wanted to do for my birthday but all I really wanted to do was hang out with you all day! We had the best time just being together at the house. We layed out by the pool and I put you in one of my old Lilly Pulitzer bathing suits (It just had bottoms but no top, so cute!). We got in the pool together and I don't think you knew what was going on because the water was so cold! That was your first experience in a big body of water so it was pretty cute to see your reaction. Then we went for a walk with your friend Sam and his mom Kristine. Daddy came home early and took us to dinner. You did great all day. Thank you for being such a wonderful birthday present to me!

Lots of Love,
Mommy
